Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Renshen Jianpi Wan is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) multi-herbal formulation used primarily to strengthen the spleen and replenish qi, harmonize the stomach, and relieve diarrhea. It is indicated for symptoms associated with spleen and stomach deficiency such as indigestion, abdominal distension or discomfort, nausea, vomiting, loose stools or diarrhea, poor appetite, fatigue, and general weakness. The formula typically contains a combination of herbs including Panax ginseng (Ren Shen), Atractylodes macrocephala (Bai Zhu), Poria cocos (Fu Ling), Dioscorea opposita (Shan Yao), Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae (Chen Pi), Aucklandia lappa (Mu Xiang), Amomum villosum (Sha Ren), Astragalus membranaceus (Huang Qi - honey-fried), Angelica sinensis (Dang Gui), Ziziphus jujuba seed (Suan Zao Ren - fried), Polygala tenuifolia root processed with licorice ("Zhi Yuan Zhi"), with honey as an excipient[2][4][5]. The mechanism of action is based on TCM principles—tonifying qi and spleen function—but pharmacologically may involve modulation of gastrointestinal motility and support for digestive function. It is administered orally in large honeyed pills[2][3].
