Overview

Renshen Tang, known in Japanese Kampo medicine as Ninjin-to, is a traditional herbal formula composed of Ginseng (Ninjin), Licorice (Kanzo), Atractylodes lancea rhizome (Byakujutsu), and Dried Ginger (Kankyo). It is primarily used to address conditions characterized by gastrointestinal weakness, such as stomach atony, diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach pain, often accompanied by cold extremities and frequent urination. The formula works by tonifying Qi, strengthening the Spleen and Stomach, and warming the interior to alleviate symptoms of deficiency and coldness. In Japan, it is recognized as a medical drug and is available as extract granules.
