Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RenuTend is a veterinary stem cell therapy developed by Boehringer Ingelheim for the treatment of tendon and suspensory ligament injuries in horses. The active ingredient consists of tenogenic primed equine allogeneic peripheral blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells. Administered via intralesional injection, RenuTend improves the quality of tendon healing by promoting the parallel alignment of tendon fibers and reducing the formation of scar tissue. It was approved by the European Medicines Agency in 2022, becoming the first licensed product for this indication in the equine market.
