Overview
This is a **combination therapy** comprising **REP 2165-Mg** (a nucleic acid polymer or NAP, magnesium chelate formulation), **peginterferon alfa-2a** (a pegylated recombinant interferon, immune modulator), and **tenofovir disoproxil fumarate** (a nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor). The combination has been investigated in **clinical trials for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B** (HBV), particularly in HBeAg-negative patients. REP 2165-Mg acts as a hepatitis B virus replication inhibitor by blocking secretion of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) from infected hepatocytes, aiming to enhance immune restoration. Peginterferon alfa-2a binds to type I interferon receptors, activating the JAK/STAT pathway and inducing the innate antiviral response. Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate inhibits HBV DNA polymerase, blocking reverse transcription and viral replication.
