Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Replens is a non-hormonal, long-lasting vaginal moisturizer formulated as a bioadhesive gel. It contains a specific combination of polymers—polycarbophil, carbomer, and polyvinyl methyl ether/maleic anhydride (PVM/MA) copolymer—that adhere to the vaginal epithelium, providing hydration by holding water in place for up to three days. Sodium lactate is included as a buffering agent to maintain a healthy, acidic vaginal pH. The product is primarily used for the symptomatic relief of vaginal dryness and atrophy, conditions often associated with menopause, breastfeeding, or certain medical treatments. Unlike lubricants, which provide temporary moisture during sexual activity, Replens is designed for regular use to restore and maintain vaginal tissue hydration.
