The Replikin-based Taura Syndrome vaccine is a synthetic peptide vaccine developed by Replikins LLC to protect shrimp, specifically *Litopenaeus vannamei*, against the Taura Syndrome Virus (TSV). The vaccine technology is based on the identification of 'Replikins,' which are specific, conserved peptide sequences within viral proteins characterized by a high concentration of lysine and histidine residues. These sequences are identified using proprietary algorithms that correlate Replikin concentration with viral replication and outbreak cycles. By synthesizing these specific peptides and administering them to shrimp, the vaccine aims to stimulate the invertebrate innate immune system to recognize and neutralize TSV.
