Overview

RES-020 is a GalNAc-conjugated antisense oligonucleotide designed to inhibit microRNA-22 (miR-22). It is a second-generation miR-22 inhibitor developed by Resalis Therapeutics for the treatment of obesity and metabolic associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), including its progressive form, metabolic associated steatohepatitis (MASH). The GalNAc conjugation allows for targeted delivery to the liver, enabling potent inhibition of miR-22 at significantly lower doses compared to earlier candidates. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that RES-020 achieves robust miR-22 inhibition in the liver, leading to de-repression of PGC1α and SIRT1, reduction in body weight and triglycerides, and increased browning of white adipose tissue. These effects suggest durable disease-modifying potential for long-term management of obesity and fatty liver diseases[2][5][7].
