Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Residerm refers to two distinct entities in the pharmaceutical space: a marketed topical ointment and a proprietary drug delivery technology. Residerm Ointment, manufactured by RSR Healthcare, is a triple-combination product containing beclometasone dipropionate (0.05% w/w), clotrimazole (1% w/w), and gentamicin (0.1% w/w). It is indicated for the treatment of various inflammatory skin disorders, such as eczema and contact dermatitis, particularly when complicated by bacterial or fungal infections. Beclometasone is a corticosteroid that provides anti-inflammatory and antipruritic effects; clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum imidazole antifungal that disrupts fungal cell membrane integrity; and gentamicin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. Separately, ResiDerm (also known as ResiDerm A) is a proprietary zinc-based topical drug delivery technology developed by Access Pharmaceuticals and licensed to Strakan. This technology enhances the skin penetration and retention of active pharmaceutical ingredients and was notably utilized in the development of Zindaclin (zinc-clindamycin) for the treatment of acne.
