Overview
Resina Draconis, commonly known as Dragon's Blood or Long Xue Jie, is a traditional Chinese medicine resin obtained from various plant species, most notably *Dracaena cochinchinensis*. It is rich in bioactive compounds, including flavonoids like Loureirin A and B, which possess anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and neuroprotective properties. In clinical research, Resina Draconis is being investigated for its potential to prevent postoperative delirium (POD) and postoperative neurocognitive disorder (POND) in elderly patients undergoing major elective surgeries, such as hip or knee arthroplasty. The therapeutic mechanism is thought to involve the modulation of neuroinflammatory pathways, specifically the CXCL10/CXCR3 axis, which is associated with cognitive decline following surgical stress. The Second Hospital of Jiaxing has conducted Phase 4 interventional studies evaluating its efficacy as part of a combined traditional Chinese and Western medicine regimen.
