Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Resolute Onyx is a next-generation drug-eluting stent (DES) system used in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for the treatment of coronary artery disease. The device consists of a balloon-expandable, intracoronary stent made from a composite cobalt alloy and platinum-iridium alloy, formed into a continuous sinusoid pattern using Core Wire Technology for enhanced deliverability and visibility. The stent is coated with the BioLinx polymer containing zotarolimus, an immunosuppressant that inhibits neointimal hyperplasia by blocking cell proliferation at the site of vessel injury. This combination allows for rapid endothelial healing with minimal inflammation and low risk of stent thrombosis. The system is available in multiple sizes to accommodate various vessel diameters, including large vessels such as the left main coronary artery[1][2][5][7].
