Resolvin D5n-3 DPA (RvD5n-3 DPA) is a specialized pro-resolving lipid mediator (SPM) belonging to the oxylipin class of oxidized fatty acid derivatives. It is endogenously synthesized from n-3 docosapentaenoic acid (n-3 DPA) via the action of arachidonate 15-lipoxygenase (ALOX15). RvD5n-3 DPA exerts potent immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effects by targeting the NLRP3 inflammasome signaling pathway and modulating leukocyte-endothelial interactions and granulocyte trafficking. Preclinical research has demonstrated its potential in treating sickle cell disease (SCD) by modifying hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) function and reducing neutrophil activation. It has also shown efficacy in models of pulmonary inflammation, inflammatory bowel disease, and intestinal ischemia-reperfusion injury. Currently, it is primarily utilized as a research reagent and is available commercially from vendors such as Cayman Chemical.
