Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Resp-Aid is a multi-herb botanical formulation designed to support respiratory health and manage inflammatory airway conditions. It consists of nine medicinal herbs: Coltsfoot, Marshmallow, Plantain, Mullein, Horehound, Licorice, Lobelia, Ginger, and Myrrh. In preclinical studies using ovalbumin-challenged mouse models of asthma, Resp-Aid has demonstrated the ability to reduce airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR), decrease the infiltration of inflammatory cells such as neutrophils, and lower levels of the Th2 cytokine IL-13 and eosinophil peroxidase (EPO). The product is primarily marketed as a veterinary supplement by NHV Natural Pet Products for the treatment of respiratory distress, coughs, and bronchial infections in pets, but it is also a subject of academic research into its immunomodulatory mechanisms in allergic lung diseases.
