RESP-X is a first-in-class anti-virulence monoclonal antibody developed by Infex Therapeutics for the treatment of chronic *Pseudomonas aeruginosa* infections in patients with non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis (NCFB). Unlike traditional antibiotics that attempt to kill bacteria, RESP-X targets the virulence factors of the pathogen, specifically the PcrV protein which is a key component of the *P. aeruginosa* Type III Secretion System (T3SS). By neutralizing this system, the drug prevents the bacteria from injecting toxins into host cells and evading the immune response. The primary therapeutic goal is to reduce the frequency and severity of debilitating respiratory exacerbations in patients colonized with chronic *P. aeruginosa*. It is currently in Phase II clinical development.
