RESP3000 is a preclinical-stage radiopharmaceutical PET (Positron Emission Tomography) imaging agent developed by Respiratorius for cardiovascular diagnostics. It is specifically designed for myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) to detect coronary artery disease. The agent is a small molecule tracer, typically labeled with fluorine-18 (18F), that binds to mitochondrial complex I in the myocardium. By utilizing PET technology, RESP3000 aims to provide superior image resolution, improved sensitivity, and more accurate quantification of myocardial blood flow compared to traditional technetium-99m-based SPECT (Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography) imaging. The use of fluorine-18 allows for a longer half-life than other PET tracers like rubidium-82, facilitating centralized distribution to medical centers.
