RESP301 is a proprietary inhaled nitric oxide (NO) generating solution developed for the treatment of respiratory infections and conditions. It consists of an admixture of two precursor solutions (including sodium nitrite) that are mixed at the point of care and administered via a handheld nebulizer to deliver localized and sustained NO release in the airways and alveolar spaces. The mechanism involves direct antimicrobial action—killing both viruses and bacteria—and boosting host immune response by restoring NO levels in the lungs. Preclinical studies have shown potent activity against various respiratory pathogens, including SARS-CoV-2, influenza virus strains, rhinovirus, Mycobacterium abscessus, and other bacteria. Clinical trials have evaluated its use in COVID-19 (hospitalized patients), tuberculosis (including multidrug-resistant TB), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease exacerbations, cystic fibrosis lung infections, and postoperative pulmonary complications[1][3][5][6][7].
