Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) mRNA vaccine is a prophylactic vaccine candidate being developed by Walvax Biotechnology for the prevention of RSV infection. Utilizing messenger RNA technology, the vaccine encodes RSV-specific antigens intended to elicit a protective immune response, including the production of neutralizing antibodies and T-cell activation. The candidate leverages Walvax's established mRNA platform capabilities, which were refined during the company's SARS-CoV-2 vaccine programs (such as AWcorna). As of early 2024, the vaccine is in Phase 1 clinical trials to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity profile in human subjects.
