The respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) neutralizing antibody is a monoclonal antibody being developed by the National Institute of Diagnostics and Vaccine Development in Infectious Diseases (NIDVD) at Xiamen University. It is designed as a next-generation, broad-spectrum therapeutic or prophylactic agent that targets the RSV fusion (F) protein. By binding to highly conserved epitopes, likely on the pre-fusion conformation of the F protein, the antibody neutralizes the virus and prevents it from entering host cells. This candidate is currently in the preclinical stage of development and aims to provide superior potency and coverage compared to existing RSV immunotherapies, potentially offering protection against a wide range of RSV strains.
