ReSure

ReSure is a synthetic, polyethylene glycol (PEG)-based hydrogel sealant developed by Ocular Therapeutix. It is specifically designed for ophthalmic use to seal clear corneal incisions made during cataract surgery, serving as an alternative to sutures. The product is applied as a liquid and polymerizes in situ within seconds to form a soft, lubricious, and transparent hydrogel that provides a leak-tight seal and a physical barrier against bacterial ingress. In clinical research conducted by Stanford University, ReSure has been evaluated as a prophylactic measure to prevent epithelial ingrowth following repeat LASIK surgery by sealing the flap edges. The hydrogel is biocompatible and typically clears from the eye through natural tear film turnover within approximately seven days.
