Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Resveratrol + carboxymethyl-beta-glucan is a combination therapeutic consisting of the natural polyphenol resveratrol and the water-soluble yeast-derived polysaccharide carboxymethyl-beta-glucan. Resveratrol acts as a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent by modulating pathways such as NF-κB and SIRT1, thereby reducing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Carboxymethyl-beta-glucan serves as an immunomodulator that enhances the activity of innate immune cells, including macrophages and neutrophils, through interaction with pattern recognition receptors like Dectin-1. This combination is primarily utilized in the management of upper respiratory tract diseases, such as allergic rhinitis and recurrent respiratory infections, particularly in children. It is frequently formulated as a nasal spray or oral supplement and is often regulated as a medical device in European markets.
