Overview

Retezrelvir (CD388) is a first-in-class long-acting Drug-Fc Conjugate (DFC) designed for the universal prevention and treatment of influenza A and B. Developed by Cidara Therapeutics using its proprietary Cloudbreak® platform, retezrelvir consists of multiple copies of a potent synthetic small molecule neuraminidase inhibitor covalently linked to a human IgG1 Fc domain. This unique modality combines the direct antiviral activity of a small molecule with the extended pharmacokinetic profile of a monoclonal antibody, potentially allowing for a single intramuscular dose to provide protection throughout an entire flu season. Retezrelvir is engineered to target a highly conserved region of the viral neuraminidase enzyme, making it effective against a broad range of seasonal and pandemic influenza strains, including those resistant to current standard-of-care antivirals.
