InGel Therapeutics is developing a retinal ganglion cell (RGC) precursor cell therapy for the treatment of retinal degenerative diseases. This engineered cell therapy utilizes precursor cells that are lineage-committed to becoming RGCs but retain proliferative capacity. The cells are delivered using a proprietary, biodegradable, vitreous-mimicking hydrogel system designed to protect the cells from mechanical stress during injection and support their survival and integration within the host retina. The therapy aims to restore visual function by replacing lost or damaged RGCs in conditions such as glaucoma, dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and retinitis pigmentosa. The program is currently in preclinical development and is part of a broader regenerative platform that also includes photoreceptor precursor therapies.
