Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Retinalamin is a tissue-specific peptide bioregulator and retinoprotector developed by the Saint Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. It consists of a complex of water-soluble polypeptide fractions isolated from the retina of cattle (bovine). Retinalamin is designed to regulate metabolic processes in the retina, stimulate the repair and functional activity of retinal cells, and improve the interaction between the retinal pigment epithelium and photoreceptors. It also exhibits anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, enhances the activity of retinal macrophages, and protects the vascular endothelium. The drug is approved in Russia for the treatment of various degenerative and vascular retinal diseases, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinitis pigmentosa.
