Overview

Revefenacin is a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA) used as an inhalation solution for the maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It acts as a bronchodilator by competitively antagonizing muscarinic cholinergic receptors, particularly showing kinetic selectivity for the M3 subtype, leading to relaxation of airway smooth muscle and improved airflow. Revefenacin is notable as the first once-daily nebulized LAMA approved for COPD maintenance therapy. It was developed by Theravance Biopharma and received FDA approval in 2018[1][3][7].
