ReViVox is a novel small molecule anticholinesterase being developed by DelNova to address complications arising from botulinum toxin (e.g., Botox) therapies. The drug is specifically designed to reverse off-target muscle paralysis and neurotoxin-induced muscle weakness. Its mechanism of action involves the inhibition of acetylcholinesterase at the neuromuscular junction, which indirectly increases the levels of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. This increase helps to overcome the blockade of acetylcholine release caused by botulinum toxins, thereby accelerating muscle recovery. ReViVox is currently administered as a targeted, localized single-dose injection, with the company exploring future transdermal and topical formulations. As of late 2023, the product has demonstrated a first-in-human proof of concept for reversing neurotoxin-induced muscle weakness.
