Overview

Rexmyelocel-T (REX-001) is an autologous cell therapy consisting of bone marrow-derived mononuclear cells (BMMNCs) harvested from the patient's own bone marrow. Developed by Rexgenero Limited, it is an advanced therapy medicinal product (ATMP) designed to treat Critical Limb Ischemia (CLI), particularly in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The therapeutic mechanism involves the migration of these mononuclear cells to ischemic tissue, where they promote angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels) and provide support to the existing vasculature. It is administered via a single intra-arterial infusion. Rexmyelocel-T has been evaluated in Phase III pivotal trials targeting patients at Rutherford Categories 4 and 5.
