Overview

rFPV-HIV-AE is a recombinant, non-replicating fowlpox virus (rFPV) vector-based vaccine candidate developed by the Kirby Institute for the prevention of HIV-1 infection. It is specifically engineered to deliver HIV-1 genes from the AE clade, which is the predominant subtype in Southeast Asia. The vaccine is designed to be used as a booster in a heterologous prime-boost immunization strategy, typically following three priming doses of the pHIS-HIV-AE DNA vaccine. By using a viral vector to express HIV-1 antigens in vivo, the vaccine aims to stimulate both cellular (T-cell) and humoral (B-cell) immune responses to provide protection against HIV-1 infection.
