Overview

RFUS-1646 is a potent and selective small molecule inhibitor of the voltage-gated sodium channel Nav1.8 (SCN10A), developed by Yichang Humanwell Pharmaceutical. Nav1.8 is primarily expressed in peripheral sensory neurons (nociceptors) and plays a critical role in the transmission of pain signals. By selectively blocking Nav1.8, RFUS-1646 aims to provide effective analgesia for various pain conditions, including acute postoperative pain and chronic neuropathic pain (such as diabetic peripheral neuropathy and postherpetic neuralgia), while minimizing the central nervous system and cardiovascular side effects associated with non-selective sodium channel blockers. The drug is currently undergoing clinical evaluation in China to assess its safety, tolerability, and efficacy in patients with neuropathic and acute pain.
