Overview

RG54 is a short peptide sequence derived from apolipoprotein A-I (ApoA-I). It has demonstrated the ability to increase glucose tolerance and prevent the formation of atherosclerosis in mice. The drug's therapeutic potential is being explored for individuals with diabetes, particularly those with severe insulin resistance, by improving glucose uptake in skeletal muscle independently of insulin levels and signaling.
