Overview

RGBP-248 is a gene-silencing nucleic acid therapeutic developed by Regen BioPharma that utilizes RNA interference (RNAi) to target the BORIS (Brother of the Regulator of Imprinted Sites) gene, also known as CTCFL. BORIS is a cancer-testis antigen typically restricted to germ cells but aberrantly expressed in various malignancies, where it promotes cancer stem cell survival and cellular immortality via telomerase induction. By silencing BORIS expression, RGBP-248 is designed to specifically eliminate cancer stem cells that are often resistant to standard chemotherapy. The drug is intended for local delivery, including via transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) for liver cancer, and has shown preclinical efficacy in breast and colon cancer models. Regen BioPharma holds US Patent #8,263,571 covering specific therapeutic agents that gene silence BORIS.
