Drug intelligence / Profile preview
rGDF11 is the recombinant form of growth differentiation factor 11 (GDF11), a member of the transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) superfamily. GDF11 is a circulating protein and cytokine involved in cellular development, tissue repair, and regulation of embryological development, particularly in skeletal and nervous systems. Recombinant GDF11 has been developed as a therapeutic candidate for its regenerative properties, including enhancement of neurogenesis, neovascularization, reduction of inflammation, and improvement in sensorimotor function after injury. Preclinical studies have shown that systemic administration of rGDF11 improves outcomes following ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke by promoting vascularization and neural stem cell proliferation. It also shows potential benefits in metabolic disease (obesity/type 2 diabetes), cardiovascular disease, muscle regeneration/aging reversal models[3][4][5][6][8].
