RGT-574 is an investigational small-molecule agonist of the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R), currently in preclinical development by Qilu Regor Therapeutics. It is being developed for the treatment of metabolic disorders, specifically type 2 diabetes and obesity. As a small-molecule GLP-1R agonist, RGT-574 is designed to mimic the effects of the incretin hormone GLP-1, which includes stimulating insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner, suppressing glucagon release, and slowing gastric emptying. This mechanism helps improve glycemic control and promote weight loss by increasing satiety. Unlike many existing GLP-1 therapies that are peptide-based and require injection, RGT-574's small-molecule modality is intended to facilitate oral administration.
