Overview

RH013001 is an investigational small-molecule drug developed by the Finnish biotechnology company Replicon Health, with D-glyceric acid (DGA) as its active ingredient. Classified as a New Active Substance (NAS) or New Chemical Entity (NCE), RH013001 is designed to activate mitochondrial energy metabolism and promote glycerophospholipid synthesis via the de novo phospholipid synthesis pathway. This mechanism supports mitochondrial structural integrity and function without increasing oxidative stress, while also facilitating reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging and inflammation control. The drug is primarily being developed for aging-associated degenerative diseases, neurodegeneration, and low-grade inflammation, with potential applications in treating viral infections such as COVID-19. RH013001 has completed a Phase 1 randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial in healthy volunteers.
