Overview
RH110 is a lyophilized mRNA vaccine developed by Shenzhen Rhegen Biotechnology for the prevention of herpes zoster (shingles). The vaccine utilizes mRNA technology to encode the varicella-zoster virus (VZV) glycoprotein E (gE) antigen, which is encapsulated in lipid nanoparticles (LNP). A distinguishing feature of RH110 is its use of proprietary lyophilization technology, enabling the vaccine to remain stable under standard cold chain temperatures (2-8°C), addressing the storage and transport challenges associated with liquid mRNA vaccines. In October 2024, RH110 received implicit approval from China's Center for Drug Evaluation (CDE) to initiate clinical trials, making it one of the first lyophilized mRNA shingles vaccines to reach this stage.
