Overview

RHB-104 is an investigational oral fixed-dose combination antibiotic therapy composed of clarithromycin, clofazimine, and rifabutin. It was originally developed under the name Myoconda by Giaconda and later acquired by RedHill Biopharma. The drug is designed to target intracellular pathogens with potent anti-mycobacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Its primary mechanism of action is directed against *Mycobacterium avium* subspecies *paratuberculosis* (MAP), based on the hypothesis that MAP infection may play a causal role in Crohn's disease. In addition to its antimicrobial effects, RHB-104 may also exert neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory actions, which are being explored in other inflammatory disorders such as multiple sclerosis (MS) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Clinical trials have demonstrated that RHB-104 plus standard of care significantly increases clinical remission rates in Crohn's disease compared to placebo plus standard of care[1][2][3][4][5].
