rhCollagen is a recombinant form of human type I collagen produced using genetically engineered tobacco plants. The process involves introducing synthetic human genes into the plants to express procollagen, which is then extracted and purified. This plant-derived rhCollagen is structurally and biochemically identical to natural human type I collagen and does not elicit an adverse immune response in humans.
