Overview

Rheosorbilact is a hyperosmolar crystalloid electrolyte solution for intravenous infusion, developed in Ukraine. It is designed to provide detoxifying, rheological (improving blood flow), and alkalizing effects, with additional stimulation of intestinal motility. The main active components are sorbitol and sodium lactate. Sorbitol acts as an osmotic diuretic and laxative, improves microcirculation by its disaggregating effect on blood cells, serves as an alternative energy source (especially useful in diabetic patients), and contributes to detoxification. Sodium lactate helps correct metabolic acidosis by being metabolized into sodium bicarbonate, thus increasing the alkaline buffer capacity of the blood without causing sharp pH fluctuations. Other electrolytes present include sodium chloride (rehydration and volume expansion), calcium chloride (reduces vascular permeability and prevents inflammatory reactions), and potassium chloride (restores water-electrolyte balance). Rheosorbilact is used for detoxification therapy in various conditions such as purulent-septic diseases, peritonitis, burns, shock states of different origins (traumatic, toxic), acute blood loss, microcirculatory disorders like endarteritis or Raynaud’s disease, postoperative recovery to improve circulation/prevent thrombosis or thrombophlebitis, metabolic acidosis correction especially in kidney disease with preserved renal function (>45 ml/min/m2 GFR), infectious diseases with intoxication including sepsis or chronic hepatitis exacerbation. The drug has been shown to reduce markers of endogenous intoxication such as creatinine and bilirubin levels within days of administration; it also normalizes coagulation indices rapidly after infusion[1][2][4][5][6][7][8]. Clinical studies support its safety profile with most adverse events being mild[7].
