It is a truncated form of the protein where the Aα-chain ends at amino acid position 610, effectively lacking the distal αC-domain found in the full-length (Aα847) protein. The drug is intended for the treatment of coagulation disorders and perioperative bleeding, specifically in the context of on-pump coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery where hemodilution and consumption of clotting factors can lead to impaired hemostasis. In clinical research, rhFGN Aα610 is evaluated for its ability to restore clot strength and its resistance to fibrinolysis, often compared against plasma-derived fibrinogen concentrates like RiaSTAP.
