Overview

rhFGN Aα847 is a recombinant human fibrinogen (rhFGN) variant characterized by a truncated Aα chain at residue 847. Developed by the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), this biologic is designed to function as a replacement for endogenous fibrinogen (Coagulation Factor I) to support hemostasis and clot formation. It is specifically being investigated for the treatment of perioperative fibrinogen deficiency and other coagulation disorders. In ex vivo clinical studies involving patients undergoing on-pump coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery, rhFGN Aα847 has been evaluated for its ability to restore coagulation profiles, as measured by rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM), in comparison to plasma-derived fibrinogen concentrates and other recombinant variants like rhFGN Aα610.
