Overview

Rhinase Lubricating Nasal Mist is an over-the-counter (OTC) intranasal spray developed and marketed by Profounda Inc. for the management of nasal dryness and irritation. The formulation is a steroid-free, aloe-free, hypotonic solution with a pH of 6.2, designed to match the natural environment of the nasal cavity. It contains two wetting agents—polyethylene glycol (15%) and propylene glycol (5%)—along with sodium chloride and potassium chloride. These ingredients work synergistically to hydrate the nasal mucosa and dissolve thick or crusty mucus. Rhinase is indicated for dryness resulting from various conditions, including allergies, chronic sinusitis, low humidity, nosebleeds, and the use of medical devices such as CPAP machines or oxygen therapy. It was launched in 2016 as a US-manufactured reformulation of the Canadian product Rhinaris.
