Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rhizoma Bletillae is the dried tuber of *Bletilla striata* (Thunb.) Reichb. f., a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) widely recognized for its hemostatic and wound-healing properties. The primary active constituent is bletilla glucomannan, a natural polysaccharide that forms a protective physical barrier over wounds and surgical incisions. This film-forming ability, combined with its capacity to induce growth factors such as TGF-beta1 and VEGF, promotes tissue regeneration, reduces inflammation, and accelerates wound closure. It is clinically utilized in various formulations, including powders, pastes, and gels, for indications such as internal bleeding (hemoptysis, gastric ulcers) and external wound repair, including mixed hemorrhoid surgery recovery.
