rHMPV-SHs is a recombinant human metapneumovirus (HMPV) challenge strain developed by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). It is utilized in Phase 1 clinical trials as a controlled human infection model (CHIM) to study the natural history of HMPV infection in healthy adults and to provide a standardized platform for testing the efficacy of future HMPV vaccine candidates and antiviral therapies. The strain is a molecularly cloned version of HMPV, allowing for precise characterization and safety profiling required for inpatient isolation studies.
