rhPDCD5 is a recombinant form of the human Programmed Cell Death 5 (PDCD5) protein, which was originally identified as TFAR19. PDCD5 is a pro-apoptotic protein that is frequently down-regulated in various malignancies, including breast, lung, and gastric cancers. The protein functions by translocating from the cytoplasm to the nucleus upon the induction of apoptosis, where it enhances the apoptotic response to various stimuli, such as DNA damage or chemotherapy. In preclinical models, rhPDCD5 has demonstrated the ability to sensitize cancer cells to paclitaxel and other chemotherapeutic agents, significantly improving antitumor efficacy in xenograft models when administered intraperitoneally.
