Overview
rHPIV3cp45 is a live, attenuated, recombinant cold-passaged human parainfluenza virus type 3 (HPIV3) vaccine developed for the prevention of HPIV3 infection, primarily in infants and young children. The vaccine contains 15 known attenuating mutations and is administered intranasally as nose drops. It was designed to induce immunity by mimicking natural infection without causing disease. Clinical studies demonstrated that rHPIV3cp45 is immunogenic and well-tolerated in seronegative children aged 6–36 months, with mild reactogenicity and no significant difference in adverse events compared to placebo. The mechanism of action involves stimulating an immune response against HPIV3 through exposure to the live attenuated virus[1][6][7][8].
