Overview

rHSA-GCSF (SBC-002) is a long-acting recombinant fusion protein developed by Tianjin SinoBiotech for the management of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia. The molecule consists of human serum albumin (HSA) genetically fused to granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). By utilizing the long circulatory half-life of albumin and its neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn)-mediated recycling mechanism, rHSA-GCSF provides a sustained therapeutic effect, allowing for less frequent administration compared to daily filgrastim injections. The G-CSF component of the fusion protein binds to the G-CSF receptor on hematopoietic progenitor cells in the bone marrow, stimulating the proliferation, differentiation, and activation of neutrophils. This drug has been evaluated in Phase Ib dose-escalation studies specifically targeting breast cancer patients undergoing myelosuppressive chemotherapy to prevent or treat neutropenic complications.
