Drug intelligence / Profile preview
rhuApoAI is a recombinant human apolipoprotein A-I (ApoA-I) biologic designed to mimic or augment the function of endogenous ApoA-I, the principal protein component of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) particles that mediates reverse cholesterol transport from peripheral tissues to the liver. By increasing functional ApoA-I/HDL activity, rhuApoAI is intended to enhance cholesterol efflux from macrophages, promote plaque stabilization and regression, and exert anti-inflammatory and endothelial-protective effects, and has been explored experimentally for cardiovascular indications such as atherosclerosis and acute coronary syndromes.
