Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal combination consisting of rhubarb (commonly known as Da Huang), Coptis chinensis (Huang Lian), and dried ginger (Zingiber officinale). These herbs are often used together in classical TCM formulas, such as those derived from "Shanghan Lun," to address gastrointestinal disorders. Rhubarb is traditionally used for its purgative and detoxifying properties; Coptis chinensis contains berberine, which has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects; dried ginger is valued for warming the spleen and stomach, dispelling cold, and supporting digestive function[1][2][5]. Modern research indicates that combinations of these herbs can inhibit gastric tumor growth by interfering with glucose metabolism—specifically through downregulation of LDHA and SLC2A1 genes—and promote apoptosis in cancer cells[1]. The combination may also be used to treat conditions like gastritis, gastric ulcer, colitis, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal discomfort, and other digestive system ailments[1][5].
