Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rhumalgan is a branded generic formulation of diclofenac, a potent non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory properties. Developed by Lagap, Rhumalgan is available in various formulations, including oral tablets (Rhumalgan CR, SR, XL, and enteric-coated), powder for oral solution (Rhumalgan K), rectal suppositories (Rhumalgan Retard), and a topical gel (Rhumalgan Emulgel). It works by reversibly inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes COX-1 and COX-2, thereby blocking the synthesis of prostaglandins that mediate pain, fever, and inflammation. Rhumalgan is approved for the treatment of acute and chronic pain and inflammatory conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute gout, dysmenorrhea, migraine, and musculoskeletal injuries.
