Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**RiboStat** is an investigational ophthalmic fixed-dose formulation of riboflavin 5'-phosphate and sodium iodide developed by Epion Therapeutics as the drug component of the EpiSmart epithelium-on corneal cross-linking system. Following stromal loading through an intact corneal epithelium, UVA exposure activates riboflavin to generate singlet oxygen and drive photochemical collagen cross-linking, strengthening the corneal stroma. Sodium iodide is included to limit riboflavin photodegradation, remove peroxide byproducts, and support efficient oxygen-dependent cross-linking. RiboStat is being developed for keratoconus and broader corneal ectasia. ([epiontx.com](https://www.epiontx.com/epismart))
