Rice bran arabinoxylan compound (RBAC) is a heteropolysaccharide nutraceutical derived from the enzymatic hydrolysis of defatted rice bran using enzymes from *Lentinus edodes* (shiitake mushroom) mycelia. It functions as a natural immunomodulator, primarily by enhancing natural killer (NK) cell activity and modulating the secretion of cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interferon-gamma (IFN-γ). Developed by Daiwa Pharmaceutical, it is most commonly known by the brand name Biobran (MGN-3). RBAC has been investigated as a complementary therapy for various conditions, including hepatocellular carcinoma, multiple myeloma, HIV infection, and metabolic disorders like diabetes and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. It is classified as a functional food or dietary supplement rather than a conventional pharmaceutical drug.
