Overview

Rice prolamin extract (RPE) is a protein fraction derived from rice (*Oryza sativa*) that is characterized by its high content of proline and glutamine. It has been identified as having significant antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, and immune-modulating properties. Research, particularly in preclinical models of atopic dermatitis, suggests that RPE can alleviate skin lesions by suppressing the production of Th2-associated pro-inflammatory cytokines and reducing systemic levels of Immunoglobulin E (IgE). As a dietary supplement or nutraceutical, it is being investigated for its potential to manage allergic and inflammatory conditions through the modulation of immune responses and the reduction of oxidative stress.
